Transfer Shock: Donnarumma Arrives at Man City, Ederson Bids Emotional Farewell

Manchester City Land Donnarumma as Ederson Departs for Fenerbahce

In a deal worth approximately €35 million (£30.4 million), Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has officially joined Manchester City from Paris Saint-Germain. The 25-year-old shot-stopper has signed a five-year contract and will wear the iconic No. 99 jersey at the Etihad.

Speaking after completing his move, Donnarumma described joining City as a dream come true:

"For me, signing with Manchester City is a very proud moment. This is a team full of world-class players, led by one of the greatest managers in football history.  Playing at the Etihad will be something special, and I promise to give everything to help the club win even more trophies.”

After eight glittering seasons in Manchester, Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson's departure marks the end of an era with the transfer. The 32-year-old has joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce, leaving behind a legacy that includes 18 major honours — six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a Champions League triumph.  He also collected the Premier League Golden Glove award three times.

Ederson reminisced about his time at City, saying: “I leave incredibly proud of what we achieved.  Playing for this club has been the most special time of my life.  Under Pep, we dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe.  I will always remain a Manchester City fan.”

Meanwhile, Swiss defender Manuel Akanji has also left the club, joining Inter Milan on a season-long loan.

With Donnarumma stepping into Ederson’s shoes, City fans will be eager to see how the Italian star fits into Pep Guardiola’s plans as the club continues its hunt for more silverware.
